Project Overview

The Southwest Economic Development Initiative, of the Jubilee Homes of Syracuse, Inc. - Southwest Economic Business Resource Center, promotes economic empowerment along the corridors of W. Onondaga and South Avenue. It is design to develop small, medium and micro enterprises; emphasizing the links between the neighborhood’s residents and business economic needs.   This initiative provides assistance in the planning, coordination, and implementation of strategies focused on improving and revitalization the “quality of the neighborhood” through façade improvement, neighborhood infrastructure improvements, and small business training and development.

The geographic area, W. Onondaga and South Avenue corridors, faces catastrophic economic conditions and is in need of revitalization. The eastern end of W. Onondaga Avenue neighborhood is in need of business development and the western end suffers from lack of investment in its historical district.  The South Avenue corridor has a blended mixture of housing and small businesses on its northern end; while the south end has greater commercial development.  Jubilee Homes of Syracuse, Inc. will drive this initiative to close the gap between the economic disparities within the community, ensuring that the quality of life is equal.  The map depicts the geographic location of our target area.
