Youthbuild is a comprehensive youth job training and community development program, which simultaneously addresses several core issues facing low-income communities: education, housing, jobs, and leadership development.

Youthbuild uniquely addresses the status of  unemployed young men and women who have dropped out of school who are searching for a path to a productive future. Youthbuild allows these youth to simultaneously serve their  communities by building homes for low and   moderate income families and build their own future.

Youth strives to build a positive community of young adults committed to success.

The academic program component is designed to meet the diverse educational needs of participants through a student-centered, integrated program of classroom-based academics, life skills, work-based learning, and community service. All participants will work towards obtaining a GED by the completion of the program cycle.

The construction component of the program gives young people a practical environment in which they can apply the academic skills of math, English, reading, and writing. Participants learn basic standards of employer expectations, preparing them for the realities of the work world

The Leadership Development component will assist participants in building leadership skills. This means assisting youth in taking responsibility to make things go right for their lives, their families, the Youthbuild program and their communities.

Youthbuild participants go through a process of personal transformation in which their aspirations, self-esteem, values, skills, life style, methods for handling their feelings, relationships with their families & communities, and future plans for change. This process is  facilitated throughout the program cycle with Youthbuild staff.

Job development/ post graduate services address the issues youth face when it comes to being employed and remaining employed. Youthbuild’s goal is not only to train youth to work in the construction field but to make them a valuable asset to any employer.
