Join us for our Small Business Workshop Series on Thursday, October 9 and 23 at Jubilee Homes (119 South Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204). A virtual link will also be available for those unable to attend in person.
In this two-part workshop, we’ll walk you through the essential stages of entrepreneurship—from ideation to becoming a fully formed, tax-paying entity. You’ll learn about the five types of small businesses (sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and cooperatives), as well as what structure might be best for you. We’ll also cover critical steps like risk management, insurance, licenses, permits, and the proper New York State registrations and certifications you’ll need to operate with confidence.
This workshop will place a special focus on construction, construction trades, and related industries such as commercial cleaning, hauling, transportation, and other services that often connect with not-for-profit contracting opportunities. If you’re considering or pursuing Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) certification, this session will be especially valuable.
The second half of the workshop will dive into the five stages of business growth—Existence, Survival, Success, Growth, and Resource Maturity—helping you understand where your business fits today and how to plan for tomorrow.
